Cool independent coffee shops are popping up all over the Twin Cities, but I was especially excited to try this new gem. Botany Coffee is found in the Standish neighborhood of Minneapolis and is as beautiful as it sounds. With plenty of natural light shinning through their windows and plants scattered throughout, it's a lovely place to visit with a friend or get some work done. Just the right type of music at the ideal volume streamed through the speakers as the friendly baristas crafted our drinks. I also noticed outlets for charging were conveniently located near the tables against the walls and simple access to wifi with no password. My sister and I each selected a different drink so we could sample both of our top picks on their menu: The Botanical, which is an extremely refreshing drink with white Song Tea, cucumber water, lime juice and simple syrup. My sister ordered a latte with their house-made almond macadamia milk which was a smooth treat to the very last sip. Botany serves Mad Cap Coffee, which is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's so cool to me when local places bring in stellar coffee from other roasters around the country. Grab a friend, a book, or some work you need to finish and pop down to Botany Coffee. They've created an atmosphere that makes you want to go back the second you walk out the door. We'll be back shortly!

The North Loop of Minneapolis has become one of my favorite areas to enjoy a cup of coffee in a matter of about 5 minutes, and the Bachelor Farmer Café is the reason why. With a variety of beverages, lunch and pastry options, you’ll be sure to find something to savor. The Atmosphere When you walk into the Bachelor Farmer Cafe, you feel instantly welcome and at home. The hard-workers behind the counter smile at you, and ask for your name when they take your order. Then they proceed to call you by name for the duration of their conversation with you, which creates a Minnesota-nice, family vibe. Also, the bright lighting makes it an on-point location to stay motivated to finish up work, or enjoy lovely conversation with a friend. The Menu Such a selection to sip! The Farmer provides an extensive beverage menu from deliciously crafted latte's to freshly pressed juice (and so much more in between). You have a variety of coffee to choose from, as well. They continually rotate the types of beans they're serving up; whether that be from a local roaster, or somewhere else in the country. Long story short, there is something for EVERYONE, you must stop in to see for yourself. The food nearly outdoes the drink selection at the Farmer. There are plenty of healthy options from salads to open faced sandwiches, all with such unique and delicious flavors. If you're feeling something sweet, they've got you covered, too! A new selection of pastries and desserts are rotating each day that are out of this world. Suspended Coffee The Suspended Coffee tradition started in Naples, Italy during the beginning of the 20th century in hopes to provide coffee for strangers that may have been less fortunate than the person purchasing the coffee. A few years ago, it evolved into a movement started by a plumber in Ireland to spread kindness to a stranger, and it caught wind quite fast (there's much more history behind where that came from, you should dig into it deeper past this post). I love that the Bachelor Farmer Cafe has joined this movement. It allows you to share a cup of coffee with a stranger and be a bright spot in their day without ever meeting them; it's a sneaky blessing (you'd better be reading this, Alicia). The Patio [Just look at it] This picture is worth a thousand words, but the experience is worth much more. Their patio is nicely nuzzled between two character-filled buildings in the North Loop with strings of lights. The Newspapers When you enter their establishment, take a break from looking at your screen and grab a newspaper to read instead. Just make sure you hang it on its hook before you walk out! You will not regret your visit to the Bachelor Farmer Cafe in the North Loop. What did you have on your visit? Let me know in the comments below! |
